Our Alliance
The Alliance to Protect Tc’ibéétookwot
The Friends of Tc’ibéétookwot’s efforts are supported by the Alliance to Protect Tc’ibéétookwot, a coalition of 30 tribes and tribal organizations, philanthropies, environmental groups, and land trusts. Members of the Alliance to Protect Tc’ibéétookwot endorse and support our goals, and are committed to helping us advance our efforts.
The Alliance advocates longterm community-based protection, recovery and healing for Tc’ibéétookwot watershed through partnership with the Cahto Tribe and others.
The Alliance is opposed to activities that would potentially harm the watershed’s coho salmon, their habitat, and the bio-cultural values and heritage of the Cahto Tribe.
The Alliance supports the acquisition and conservation of approximately 2900 acres within the Tc’ibéétookwot watershed and immediately adjacent areas.
The Alliance endorses ultimate designation of the majority of Tc’ibéétookwot watershed as a Cahto Protected Area of bio-cultural significance.
The Alliance supports establishment of meaningful and lasting roles for the Cahto Tribe in planning, decision-making, guardianship, tending, and tenure for the 2900 acres identified for acquisition, consistent with the Cahto Tribe’s priorities and the longterm recovery and protection of native species, ecosystems and bio-cultural conservation values.
